SR22 Requirement / Insurance Without a Driver’s License

SR-22 – is simply a guarantee to the state, by an insurance company,  that you are carrying the legally mandated coverage. An SR-22 by itself does not raise your insurance rates. The conviction that triggered the requirement will have an impact on your cost for insurance – usually a DUI, driving without insurance or reckless driving.

No License – Whether suspended, revoked, expired, or simply never licensed you can car insurance without a driver’s license.  In the state of Illinois, all vehicle owners are required to comply with the mandatory insurance law and maintain the minimum auto insurance coverage for their vehicles.  So, insurance without a driver’s license is not a good reason to not carry car insurance.

SR22 Requirement / Without a Driver’s License Insurance

So you need an SR-22 and don’t even know what it is – I can help!

An SR-22 (sometimes referred to as a certificate of insurance) is a vehicle liability insurance document required by the state’s Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) office for “high-risk” insurance policies. The DMV may require an SR-22 from you in order to reinstate your driving privileges following an uninsured car accident or a conviction of another traffic related offense – such as a DUI.   If an SR-22 should expire or be canceled, the insurance company is required to issue an SR-26 form, which certifies the cancellation of the policy.
